Best PC gamepad (El Mariachi is an idiot)

I currently have a Microsoft Sidewinder, the model shaped like a boomerang with eight face buttons (six on the right and two in the middle), two shoulder buttons, and one of those shitty circular inaccurate D-Pads that always betray you by going up or down when you try to press just left or right. This D-Pad is death for NES games, especially ones like Contra. Can anyone recommend me a good one for $35 or less?

(If only I could find a cheap toploader NES to replace my two or three broken frontloaders, then I wouldn't need to play on the computer... )

edit: I have the exact same one as you. Set your gamepad config right. You will never have the same accuracy for the simple reason that most controllers are force sensitive to the amount of pressure you put down on the button and the ones for computer arn't, not to my knowlege, and not for under 35 bucks. I could be wrong though. (its been known to happen)

I dont know why you would use anything else. Analog support on PC controllers is crap and controllers don't provide nearly the accuracy or speed that a mouse can provide.

Would someone tell me what the fuck this guy is talking about? Force sensitive? I just want to play a damn Nintendo game on my emulator with a D-pad that lets me push one direction at once. Nintendo has "button being pressed" and "button not being pressed." Can PC controllers do that, you think?

EDIT: For that matter, the first console to have force sensitive buttons (which are only supported by a handful of games) was the PS2, and aside from the fact that there is no very good PS2 emulator in existence I don't own any games for it anyway. I want to kill you.

EDIT - I found the problem. Most emulators have a problem with you pressing more than one button at once, wich is impossible to not do on a D-pad. Thats why its getting fucked up.

For most games, I don't have a problem, you get used to it. If it really becomes a problem USE THE FUCKING KEYBOARD LIKE I SAID. WHAT TO DO WITH THE MOUSE? HANG YOURSELF.

Well, we all know NES emulators are some of the most complicated beasts in existence, so maybe you could enlighten me on how to use one to FIX THE D-PAD ON MY CONTROLLER.

I would suggest getting one of those psx to pc adapters and just using a psx controller on your pc. Or consider building an adapter to run a regular nes controller on the pc.
