This is the commemorative holiday event in which Mockers leave their computers for a few minutes to send ZANY and HILARIOUS gifts to other Mockers at random, who then post the results of the exchange on the internet. What this holiday commemorates exactly is lost to history, but tradition is tradition, and if there's anything BAPE hates, it's change.

So here's how it works: You sign yourself up in this thread. On or around November 27th, you will be PMed with the name of the Mocker whom you will be GIFTING. You should not share this information with anyone else. You will then buy a present with this person in mind. Make this a good present, but don't spend too much on it (between $10 and $30 USD, before shipping). Send them their present WITH YOUR BOARD NAME IN THERE SOMEWHERE by the 4th of December. Shortly thereafter, you will receive a present! Take pictures, scan 'em or whatever, upload them, and share them with us by posting them this thread by December 20th. During this time, you should also buckle yourself up for jubilation.

Also, when you do post the pictures of the gifts you receive, we strongly encourage you to make a story/adventure out of it just like last year. But at the very least, you should post photos of all the gifts you received along with your thoughts on them.

I don't care if you did it in another thread, most of us admins don't deign to read any forums but the hidden ones that are filled with leprechaun gold and erotic Pokémon fan fiction.

By signing, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
• Signing represents a contract. If you fail to uphold your end of the contract, you will be permanently banned from the forums, and possibly tracked down and sodomized.
• You MUST have a working camera (buy a disposable if you don't own a regular digital camera) and some means by which to transfer the images to your computer and upload them for others to see.
• You MUST observe all deadlines and follow all of the instructions.
• If you want to be a gay little hippie fairy and make/build something, that's fine and dandy, but please keep the spending minimum in mind and throw some other goodies in there.

To prevent misuse, any member who has been registered and active with these forums for less than a year MUST:
1. Provide a picture of themselves with a sign that says "I-MOCKERY SECRET SANTA 2006" and their message board name in plain view.
2. Post this picture in this thread.
3. Send a PM to Mockery (http://i-mockery.net/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=2), who will then provide you with his mailing address for you to send a test/verification letter to. (the sooner you do this, the better)
4. Send a test letter to Mockery at his mailing address.
These steps are necessary to verify that you have a working camera and the motivation to get your ass to a post office.

• The cutoff date for SIGNUPS is November 26th.
• The cutoff date for SENDING GIFTS is December 4th.
• The cutoff date for POSTING PICTURES ON THE FORUMS OF THE GIFT(S) YOU RECEIVED is December 20th.

WHEN MAILING YOUR PACKAGE
• You should probably observe federal law regarding what can and cannot be mailed.
• You MUST send your gift via Priority mail or your country's equivalent.
• You MUST purchase a tracking number with your transaction. If your package is not received within a week, you will need this information to prove that it wasn't your fault.

Sure, foods are fine, but yeah... make sure it's not something that's going to rot/expire. And if you are sending foods, be sure to wrap them up real good to prevent anything getting ruined.

Yeah.

How much is priority mail?
Depends on what you're sending, but for an average size package, I'd say it's anywhere from 4-6 bux usually and usually arrives at its destination in 2-3 days. Obviously, if a person isn't in the country, it would take a bit longer to arrive, but it shouldn't take weeks or anything like that.

Bah. I have a pretty good picture phone and my sister has a digital camera that I could steal. I just get really busy around this time of year and it was hard to find time to do that. I just don't know if I wanna spend 30 bucks on this. Since there was some issues last year with people sending packages, it's probably worth noting that this can be accomplished without even going to the post office.

You can stuff anything you want in a Priority Mail Flat Rate box, go to USPS.com, print a shipping label with delivery confirmation and insurance, tape it all up and hand it over to your post man. It'll cost about $9 to do, and you won't have to wait in line behind all the assholes taking 20 minutes to decide if they want stamps with snowmen or angels.

Or better yet, use the timer function on your camera?

However, you might wanna save yourself some time and get the shopping done now... unless, of course, your plan is to buy a gift specifically related to the person who you've been assigned to. Just keep in mind, try to keep the gifts entertaining/amusing so that the person can post some good photos with 'em.

I know it's a pain in the ass, but this helps us prevent any potential frauds and/or lazy bastards from ruining the fun. The whole reason for the deadlines is that we wanted to give people ample time for their packages to go out in the mail, especially since mail is notoriously slower during the holiday season. Furthermore, we wanted to allow more time for the gift-receivers to take photos of their gifts and put some amusing stories together, rather than feel rushed with having to post some pics at the last second because their gift arrived late.

Karen, since your gift is going out late, please try to do whatever the fastest shipping option is available. I'm not saying "overnight" it cuz I know that's expensive, but maybe whatever the next fastest shipping option is.
