I hate myself for not having the discipline to stay away, but there's nothing really revolutionary and no-one we didn't expect so far. SSE is much longer than previously expected, though.

Also, although Jigglypuff has been confirmed and despite finding tons of new characters, she has not yet been found. Going from the easiest character to obtain to the most difficult is quite a shift.

That, friends, is the supposed final roster. If you look closely you'll notice that the Wolf box isn't curved off completely...however, a 35 character report was made a few months ago and was absolutely dead-on with this character list, right down to R.O.B.

I'm disappointed there's no K. Rool, and Toon Link and R.O.B. kinda piss me off, but other than that I am actually satisfied. My two mains are back (Jiggs and Ness), along with a few that might overtake them (Olimar, Dedede, Diddy). Everyone's all upset and ornery about the forementioned two "afterthought" characters but hey, people thought the same thing about G&W in Melee.

Speaking of which, I'm also ecstatic that G&W is back, I was disgusting with him.

To answer a bunch of questions, yeah, that last box is for random.

The Wolf picture isn't necessarily the final picture, just a mock-up of what everyone thinks it is. Back in October, a leak came through telling everyone that there were going to be 35 characters, including R.O.B. Many people wrote this person off, assuming they wanted attention, and he's been absolutely right thus far. R.O.B. was really just the final indication, and now everyone is frantically searching for how to get Wolf.

HOWEVER, there are also people who are still skeptical, people who argue that Wolf would never be the last character you'd unlock in a game like this. I'm not entirely sure who's right but as far as I know, Wolf hasn't been unlocked and it is only a 99% probability he's in.

As much as I like the Star Fox series (the story, not the games), I really think it'd be better to have someone else in there instead of Wolf. Star Fox hardly needs three representatives, as it's never really been a powerhouse franchise. You gave the people what they want with Fox and Falco, throw in K. Rool or another Metroid rep, SOMETHING.

There are also reported sightings of Mr. L! :eek :eek :eek Luigi's final smash is an inversion of the colors of the stage, the same effect that presented itself when you were scared to death in Luigi's Mansion. If this has any bearing on his becoming Mr. L is unclear; maybe it's just a costume, maybe it's an effect of his FS. We do know though that Luigi's Mansion IS A STAGE.

People are speculating that there's something bigger that we don't know about yet; something epic that can only be unlocked after a certain amount of time, or somesuch. I personally think it's just people still in denial over their favorite character not getting in but, hey, there might be something to it.

The biggest indication is the lack of a "YOU'VE UNLOCKED ALL CHARACTERS!" screen. I believe Melee had one, not sure about 64, but until these people are told explicitly and in no unclear terms, they remain rabid.

I'm personally a little tiffed because now we have THREE CHARACTERS that have the same final smash. I didn't mind Fox and Falco having it, but for Wolf to have it as well seems more than just a little lazy, considering from what I hear he's a complete clone. People were fine with just having Falco. And to be honest, I genuinely like Ganondorf being a slower, more powerful Captain Falcon and I'm damn good with him, but the differences between Fox and Falco were marginal at best. Bringing in another clone, what's he going to be? The middle ground?

I'm trying to keep an open mind, as I'm sure the backlash for characters like Ice Climbers and G&W was tremendous for Melee, and the one guy I wanted more than any other is finally here (Dedede). At the same time, it's a little disheartening, and I can't tell whether I'd be happier or sadder had I not spoiled myself.

My favorite thing to do in Melee is to pick Captain Falcon and start into a running jump, then tap the stick in the opposite direction you're moving and then hit B so he starts charging a Falcon Punch, so that when you land in front of someone you punch them in the dick.

Yeah, I really am. I have a close group of 10 or 11 friends that all play Melee and are all about or around the same level. Melee gets dull after so many years, though, so we're all bubbling with excitement.

A lot of Gamespots are having midnight launches with tournaments to accompany them, sometimes with the game or cash being a prize. We've decided that if they're a free-for-all with four people, we're all going to wreck whoever isn't one of us, then have a fair match. Mob rule!

Brawl doesnt have wavedashing, l-canceling, and the movement is smoother to prevent exploits, so the "professional" melee gamers no longer have any advantage over the average player.

Zomboid, none of us are really tournament level players. None of us use advanced techniques like wavedashing or l-cancelling or anything, we just never really cared. We're all really good yeah, but if we got into an actual tourney-level match we'd probably get killed. The guy might've just been talking himself up too, a lot of those fuckers at game stores do that.

My biggest problem with Melee tourneys and competitive gaming in general is that it's always run by remarkable douchebags.

Snake is in the game yes but he has to conform to the rules of the game. I imagine there would be certain countries that would demand a higher-then-E-rating if snake were seen with realistic weapons. Some might even be picky enough to not allow the game at all on store shelves for such a seemingly petty reason. Fantasy/cartoon violence = ok! Real or implied real violence = not so much.

For example I've heard of some Europian countries that consider it illegal to allow depicted children to be harmed in games. So a developer would either have to write a custom version of the game to comply with just that countries' laws, not sell in that country and miss out on the profit and stigma that comes with that choice, or they would have to just write it that way from the very beginning. The cheaper route would be the most obvious one.

Another fine example is Chinas' somewhat-recent decision to censor the undead characters in WoW so that they cannot show bones. I've heard that Blizzard had to whip up a patch that made all undead in those regions look like they had "muscle and skin covering their bones". Probably just done with a simple color change. Yes it was a dumb restriction China put on Blizzard but they said "If you don't make this change we will disallow your game in our country." And China has such a dense gamer population that it would have been like breaking Blizzard's legs.

They should have had a brick wall fall down in front of him, damaging the enemy. Then he would bust through the wall doing more damage and sending bricks flying, which of course would also cause damage on contact. The bricks could have stayed on the map and become items. :(

Most Gamestops are having Melee tournaments for the Brawl release, most of them offering Brawl as a prize. If anyone lives near Anne Arundel County or Southern MD, you guys should really come out to our local Gamestop. There aren't any pro players in the area and no-one that can wavedash or SHFFL effectively, it's prime pickins.

I know Bubba lives in VA and it'd be cool if anyone else could come. It's March 9th I think (the release date) at 1 PM. I'm going and so are about eight friends of mine including Chojin (i think). I hope it's 1v1, but If it's a free-for-all we're planning to gang up on whoever's playing with us before fighting each other and we'd love to have more numbers for our gang.

If anyone's interested in showing up, PM me. I don't know the specifics, whether there'll be items or random stages or whatever. There wasn't a character sign-up on the sheet (!!), so counter-picking might be available...which is good, because I might switch between Jiggs, Ness and Doc depending on my opponent.

Indeed they are, luckily, there are dual layer discs that you can burn to if you have the appropriate burner. I went for the vs-mode only, because I am buying the game in March anyway.


BUT about Luigi's Final Smash
He does just dance around, and the colours invert. He makes a field that takes up a fair amount of the screen that damages (and i think slows down) foes within it. It doesn't really compare to some of the others or makes sense.
PS, FS's in general aren't "devastating" but they do have some good eye candy, while others just suck (Peach).

About fifteen other friends and I got this at midnight and played it until 9 this morning (eight hours with daylight savings), here are some thoughts.
Kirby got MUCH better, and Yoshi has replaced him as the worst character in the game.
Heavy characters are no longer huge targets.
Wario is extremely responsive and will probably go far.
Fox and Falco have been toned down, thank God, but Marth is still running wild.
Lucas is absolutely everything I've ever wanted in a character.
Playing Snake is incredibly satisfying.
Ike has a reputation for being the best new character, but I really don't see it.
Diddy Kong will likely be high tier if not top.
As much as I wanted to, I didn't like Olimar. About six other people at the party loved him, though.
Sonic's moves are puzzling at first.
Luigi has a Gordon Freeman costume.
All of the assist trophies are incredibly strong, but Waluigi is by and large the strongest. He's the one you'll be hoping for.
Some final smashes that I thought were going to be terrible ended up being absolutely fantastic, and PK Starstorm is the biggest surprise.The game is absolutely phenomenal. I just wish the online worked.

something similar, there's some youtube videos of someone who used action replay to replace character's "movesets" with other characters. one switch was sonic with fox's moveset, and instead of dropping the spring he drops an r-wing. interesting stuff.

The more I play with him, the more I think Lucas is damn near broken. Maybe someone just has to come by and put me in my place but for right now, I don't see how anyone could beat a good Lucas player. Somebody was saying there are really good counterpicks but I honestly can't see it.
