Dixie those metal series books are so full of misinformation. i mean christ, i don't know where they got thier information on some of those bands but i wouldn't take it seriously. you're best bet is to check out the band themselves. those books are so full of it.

noob3 Jesus Lizard is the best fucking band ever, I wouldn't be suprized to find a page about them in some random history book. They're just that awsome.

Ninjavenom Right. But for some reason the book feels the need to include Blink 182, Jesus Lizard, Hole, etc.? If it's going to be a book about influences, why include only the popular ones? Or ones that influence metal in NO GODDAMNED WAY? They've listed candlemass as one of the biggest founders of doom metal, yet they feel they need to include only a blurb about them anywhere else in the book? There's plenty of good modern bands included, but they were "discharged" from the list. What the fuck? The book was apparently written by four guys that edit Metal Hammer magazine. For four guys who write about metal, they sure know how to spill it out their ass. The only thing that made this purchase worthwhile was that they've included some bands i'v never even heard of, and some of their influences, so i'll kep busy looking for new stuff. Otherwise, though, .

Helm I've never read one book on metal. King Crimson where progressive /art rock with a thing for the esoteric and weird fusion, nothing to do with metal.

Ninjavenom That's precisely why i opted for this book instead. Fuck Bon Jovi.

Paul138 You should read "The Rise and Fall of Heavy Metal" that talks about when metal had it's moment in the spotlight in pop music, 80's era. Nice if you want to laugh at all the stupid shit that was in the 80's, bad if you want insight on metal music in general.

The Book Of Metal

It isn't.
All these glaringly not metal bands take up a majority of space. there is little mention of Candlemass, GWAR, or King Crimson. it does have neat little bios about the metal bands that it does include, and there are some neat pictures. The name is misleading, it should be called the Book of Metal and its Influences, and it should not have been an almost complete waste of thirty dollars.
