felix_tibs | For one I am glad you're child and everyone elses child was unahrmed. i am afraid that Terrorist style tactics have become the new retribution for angst youth. Nothing is freakier than a gun in school, and unfortunately unless you are sending your kid to school with a taser there isnt much to stop the child. The kids involved in todays school jackings are yet to be profiled like islam fundamentalists. Sometimes its just the lil wierdo in the class evryone skickers at, other times it the ADD kid who wears sweatpants. AS a teacher you need to redognize kids at risk and be prepared to ask them questions. Kids will cave... | |

Our country has been in a long ethical decline. Only the dead have seen the end of war. |

You can probably buy them cheap at the store that sold post-9/11 biohazard suits. But, that's gotta be scary. I'd enroll him in another school if I were you... |

a kid with a gun. a seventh-grader at my son's middle school brought a gun yesterday. he'd threatened to kill several little girls before he was finally turned in. when they checked him, he had the gun, unloaded, stuffed in the waistband of his pants. they found bullets elsewhere, they said. nobody got hurt, and the kid is now in detention. but damnit, that's scary. oh, not only is my son in sixth grade at this school, i'm supposed to go sub there after the current teacher comes back from maternity leave at the end of the month. i guess i should be looking into kevlar. do they have family discounts? |
