Not every number is possible. Pick a number. Let's say... 37.
3 + 7 = 10
37 - 10 = 27
Now, let's pick 76.
7 + 6 = 13
76 - 13 = 63
You will always end up with multiples of 9 as your answer. Now, check the "map" and look at every multiple of 9. Same symbol for each one.
Oddly enough, the time it did get it wrong, the number I had was in fact 9. So it wasn't a problem on my part.
