The first time I did it, it got it wrong. Not long after, I noticed the "trick."

If you noticed and understood the trick then you'd realize why its impossible for it to "get it wrong". you must've added wrong or something. If you do the math correctly it CAN'T be wrong.

Not every number is possible. Pick a number. Let's say... 37.

3 + 7 = 10

37 - 10 = 27

Now, let's pick 76.

7 + 6 = 13

76 - 13 = 63

You will always end up with multiples of 9 as your answer. Now, check the "map" and look at every multiple of 9. Same symbol for each one.

Oddly enough, the time it did get it wrong, the number I had was in fact 9. So it wasn't a problem on my part.

Jamesman is right. It always pulls up the symbol that's a multiple of nine.

The thing only works because the formula (71 -> 7+1 = 8 -> 71-8 = 63) ALWAYS gives you a multiple of nine

From 1 - 100, the multiples of 9 are

9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81, 90, 99

No matter what number you choose, it will always be a set distance away from a multiple of nine, and that distance grows as you increase the number.

Plus, if you look at the symbols for any of those numbers, it will always be the symbol that comes up.

Good work Jamesman.
