Not to make light of the situation, but I can understand easy trigger fingers in an area where the 82nd Airborne was, as little as three months ago, facing sporadic fire from crowds and rooftops and almost daily protests of armed Iraqi's speaking out against the US presence.
One thing is odd though, in May there had been about 80 Iraqi civilian fatalities in Falluja and not a single American death -though I ceased to follow it as closely since then. So much turmoil for a town which is largely considered a Sunni Moslem stronghold with virtually no Shi'ites living there.
