Vince, if you were the victim of a natural disaster, or better yet, lets imagine even stranger that you are a good person. A good person that ended up down on your luck, not by your own faults, but by budget cutbacks. You lose your job, you end up in debt, and you eventually lose your home. It isn't your fault, but no-one is hiring because Boy George W. Bush caused the economy to crash and money is tight. Wouldn't you want the government to shell out and try to fix the problems that *gasp* THEY FUCKING CAUSED??!!
Oh, wait a second, you WOULD just let yourself be another victim of W's financial ass-raping of the country, wouldn't you?
