Resort to grade school tactics. Talk to the friend of the girl or girls, and learn a little more about them. Have them relay a message to one of both that you'd like to call them or have them call you sometime. It's SHOULD BE more appreciated that you have him ask for you, rather than getting them right from him, so that might earn you a few points.
