The topic had to do with W's, if I may borrow a term here, 'pussified' response to a reporters questiin ragarding the banner on the USS lincoln directly behind the president during his speech declaring major combat over in Iraq. It read 'Mission Accomplished'. Bush claimed, rather peevishly, that the banner belonged to the navy and reffered to the Lincolns Mission.

The press secretary later had to admit that the banner was manufactured by the white house and transported to the Lincoln by the whitehouse, but hung by sailors. The whitehouse should not be held responsible for things they make and transport which Sailors then hang up.

I was pointing out that what really bothered me personally about the incident was not the banner or the prevarication, or even the by niow typical Bush finger pointing and blame shifting, it was the presidents use of Clintonian parsing. This banner wasn't our idea, it was the Navies.
