I had a sociology class once where we talked about "mob mentality". This type of behavior really isn't that unusual or "stupid". <shrug> It's human nature really. You'd be suprised what totally intelligent and normal people would do in such situations. Add to that the additional tension brought about by the terrorist threat our government keeps shoving down our throats. As horrible as this is, I'm suprised something similiar didn't happen sooner.
