Why is it taken as an article of faith that the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 made it impossible for anyone to be racist EVAR AGAIN!!? Certainly a noble effort, but passing laws won't change hearts and minds, let alone socioeconomics.
Interesting that this doctrine of THE END OF THE RACISMS is most often parroted by conservatives while it echoes the worst aspects of feel-good liberalism (not dissing anyone, but I'm sure that most of the left-wingers here who do not identify as liberal (Zhukov, maybe?) are familiar with this tendency)
