Not sure if one is better than the other, but microsoft has 3 different dvd drives in three different xboxes. The drives arn't random though, theres the new ones, the old ones, and the really old.I forget what they are, but i read somewhere that certain games just suck in the really old models. I have an old one and it works fine. If you really need mroe info on it i can dig up my old gamepro that was talking about it, pm me.
