"It's Asian tradition to sing a song at the closing of any type of government thing."
I'm well aware of that. That's why Madeline Albright gave up the last of HER dignity singing something from Evita. There are options.
It would be perfectly responsible to respond that it is part of OUR culture that is is undignified for the most powerful people in the world to clown, and at that clown badly.
Or, one could simply sing a song. I'm told there are many nice songs out there that don't require one to dress up as a construction worker and sing about the joys of meting annonymous men for sex at the YMCA.
One of the best things about the Village People was that they were somehow able to get straight people to enthiusiastically adress Gay promiscuity without ever knowing it. Does no one listen to the lyrics?
