For some reason, girls are incredibly resistant to mono. I have never heard of a girl getting it, but quite a few guys I know have had it.
I had it, too, although I escaped with a very mild case of it. The only symptom was the extreme tiredness for about a week, but the mono test came back positive, so WTF, eh? The doctor said he'd never seen anything like it before.
