You're not supposed to be able to read in your dreams. One of the things I've always heard was a good test to find out if you were awake or dreaming is by trying to read something. If it turns up garble, it's a dream - if it doesn't, it isn't.

If you're not actually reading letters and just watching a book and hearing the story inside your mind, or you're reading a colouring book or something like that, then it could work.

The last dream I had involved a pattern recognition game in which we all sat in a round table, slowly passing newspaper clippings around in a complicated pattern as a form of communication. It was followed by a slapstick-like sequence where I throw pies and feel then guilty for not owning up to having done it. I woke up then. All in all, one of the most dream-like dreams I've had. They tend to be ridiculously stupid.
