No, I think you should apologise for letting him indulge in his self-pity. What doesn't kill him, makes him stronger. I am giving him a stronger confidence by trying to break his ego.
Soon, he will learn not to care what people like me say. And then, my friend... then, I will shed a silent, unnoticed tear.
