Bush is going to invite him over? Must be some kind of kiss and make up sort of thing.
But seriously, that whole thing was a dog and pony show.
The government has always had the decryption key to any security software that gets made in the US. They are in bed with the project leaders.
What happens is that these guys are former NSA experts who go to chase the dollar once they get some experience under their belt. The software companies use them as project managers because of their insider knowledge into cutting edge encryption techniques and such.
The NSA knows this and know that there is no legal way to keep these guys without a serious budget increase (for government work? Good luck). So, they do some backroom swindeling and use some of those bogus off shore accounts we use to fund black bag ops and set the programers up with accounts and deposits.
So, instead of losing all this talent, the NSA can actually put them in the field (in a manner of speaking).
Is this legal? No, not even remotly. But, since these companies are using government grants to develope the new encryption methods, it sort of balances out.
When all is said and done, I'm not losing any sleep over it.
