Metroid tried to be a platformer while being an FPS, which is very bad. Especially when your field of view seems to somehow be even smaller than a normal FPS's FOV.
It was also gay.
Should have been a 3rd person shooter at least, but really should have remained 2D-esque like Viewtiful Joe. Then again, so should KOF and Metal Slug, but the gaming industry hates them a good idea.
