There is no rules to being a goth. If you say you are a goth, you are a goth. It doesn't matter if you wear plaid or black clothing, or if you listen to Mrs. Spears or Cannible Corpse. Unless some kind of international goth organization is made setting a standard to become a goth you can do whatever the hell you want while calling yourself whatever the hell you want.
For example: 1. International Goth Membership Card.
2. Standard metal spiked shoulder pads.
3. Weekly suicide letters
4. You must religiously listen to [insert bands here] and only [insert band here].
Well you get the idea. Saying something isn't real goth when its labeled goth is a lie. It just means you don't want it to associate with your subculture, but you don't have any choice in that. It is the individual(s) who you don't want to be goth's choice not yours.
