Aren't the Kurds part of the intelligence community of which you spoke? They foresaw Turkey's intentions a loooong time ago when the question came up of whether or not to enlist that country's assistance. The U.S. should have been more clear on their restrictions of the Turks from the start. It's obvious that if the prospect of several million dollars didn't particularly sway them that they had an alternate agenda in mind when they finally agreed ... well, aside from gaining a new leader, I mean. :/
