That series of photos and the medal itself made me laugh rather hard.

An old colleague of mine from back in my professional comic days once said something along the lines of

"Stand up comedy is the only intellectual pursuit that requires you to hone your craft dilligently for the sole purpose of prsenting it to drunken idiots."

Of course, that was before the internet.
