as a fully paid up member of Gen x who is now a high school teacher I have to say I agree with this article. The kids I teach (ages 11-16) generally demand everything but only the minority prepared to work for it. They are fixated upon their rights but do not expect their responsibilities. But look at the culture that surrounds them, the majority of kids want to be 'famous' but do not consider what they will be famous for. I want the kids I teach to be ambitious and to develop their talents but they want everything now. To them the best thing that could happen to them is being selected for a reality tv show.
actually, maybe I am being a bit harsh, I wouldnt do this job if I thought they were all like that, but it is frustrating at just how self centred some of them can be- but i guess thats called being a teenager.
