movies that scared you as a kid

my twelve-year-old watched "pet sematary" with his dad last week and didn't want to sleep alone for two nights. last night when a storm blew threw and knocked the power out, he was like, "is the basement door locked? gage might be down there." this is the first time he's been scared from anything like that, period. i don't remember the movie being scary, though i do recall that the ending was cheesy. the book's always better.
