Perhaps this was a pre-emptive effort to avoid being put on the FBI list in preparation for the "George Bush hates black people." comment. If he is already considered crazy by them, how dangerous can he really be?
I mean, he appears sincere and I appreciate his empathy but his comments about shooting people by the National Guard? That was in reference to those that have taken advantage of the situation to commit heinous crimes which is actually a small percentage of those that looted. Anyone with any common sense can see that. There is, and always will be a fraction of the community that is criminally-minded and, when given the opportunity afforded by this sort of chaos, the percentage creeps a little bit higher by those who had thought about it but didn't think that they could get away with it under normal circumstances. As for martial law being instated? That amounts to a failure on many government levels to provide a comprehensive plan to get people out of there in an orderly manner. Now, because they hadn't taken the time (or cared to take the time), they are now faced with an escalated problem that could have been nipped in the bud. I'm tired of the "blame game" being tossed around. There were several failures top to bottom. Hindsight is twenty-twenty ... whatever? Why does Florida manage to get through so many hurricanes somewhat successfully? Call the race card and I call bullshit. It's simple topography (poor civil engineering/planning), logistics and taking the threat seriously because they "know the drill", have been through it before and did not scoff at the threat for years.
It can't happen to me. :/
