Fuck the Middle East, how about the Midwest?

You figure two of the most powerful corporations/lobbys in the country are auto manufacttures and oil companies. Alternative fuel companies, inventors, etc are fighting against the estalishment that has shitloads of money and influence. The oil companies won't roll over and die, they'll fight to the bitter end to oppose funding, research, and support of alternative fuels.

That's my theory of why it hasn't happened sooner, anyway.
