I think some kind of dual-track withdrawal plan might be appropriate. For example, if X amount of U.S. troops are to be withdrawn by this date, then Y amount of Iraqi troops and/or police need to be ready and trained to pick up from where we l;eft off.

I'm opposed to the Feingold plan, but I think his mind is in the right place (although it's also merely a political gesture on his part).

The problem as related to this thread is that groups like ANSWER and whomever else won't even sit down to talk about rational, substantive messages like this. They want withdrawal, and they want the rotten imperialist state to apologize to the world in shame. Way to appeal to middle America, guys.
