Conservative Jews are a moderate denomination. What he described was not the behavior of a Conservative Jew. Does it matter ? Not to some door knob like yourself, probably not....but if you can't tell the difference between an Ultra Orthodox family, or some strange family who call themselves conservative yet keep strict household customs - then step off junior. Talk to your friend who used that one family to illustrate how he's met Jews and they're not the most reasonable people to interact with. That he even thinks his sleepover experience is relevant to all his conspiracy theories says more then anything.
