But Max, I think the Left has played as much of a role in this shit storm as anybody else. The nation is so polarized, and people have pretty much decided where it is that they stand.

It isn't about good and bad policy, it's about standing by your favorite team. Liberals/Leftists whatever are attacking "their guy," so they are not only going to give him the benefit of the doubt x10, but they will defend him to the death.

That's why guys like Howard Dean and Karl Rove will be loud, and ultimately useless on this issue. THey both know that their parties have political gains at stake over this, so they will use it the best they can. Americans aren't stupid, and they see that. So everyone will simply rally around their flag.
