UK Mockers - Fry and Laurie

I was in two minds whether to look into this - I liked them both in Blackadder but Fry has become an insufferably smug shit, a byword for 'intelligently tasteful' (advertising Twinings!?) and Laurie's become that weirdly popular cripple doctor. So yeah, i'm a bit hesitant about taking the plunge on my budget - I have no idea what the guise of the series is, so is there an episode off the new DVD I should download first?
