I wouldn't count on him growing out of it. I need this guy in college, and he had some redeaming features, but a massive bloated ego. I figure, well, life will beat him down and he'll grow out of it.
Life showed him over and over that he wasn't as wonderful as he imagined himself, and now twenty some odd years later he is more insufferable than ever. He applied to Yale drama for Grad school, and I said, apply to some other schools, Yale is very selective, but he said no, no, Yale was where he wanted to go and he knew he'd get in becuase no one on earth was better than him. He did not. The following year he applied to ART at Harvard, I said, you know, after yale, ART is just about the hardest, etc. etc, but no, he wouldn't apply anyhwere else and he didn't get in. I don't even want to go into how none of us could convince him not to get involved in a pyramid scheme, or his loathsome career as a new age guru.
And NO THIS IS NOT ME WE'RE TALKING ABOUT! I am a happy underachiever.
