On a similar note I think that english classes should be taught with a specific emphasis placed on root words, suffixes, etc.. The reason for this is that you can gain a better insight into the english language in general. If you understand that you can understand any word just by looking at it, without even ever having seen the word or the need to look it up in the dictionary. Why learn "words" at all when you can be learning the actual mechanism. Such a watered down education system.

And honestly it's not that hard to guess the pronunctiation of words within your own damned language, and even if you mess up you won't be far off enough that anybody but a peer wouldn't understand.
