Here's an idea: Why not just do away with political parties altogether? That way, people could have an easier time choosing candidates based on their merits rather than party politics.
If you indeed believe the lefty blogosphere is to blame for Lieberman's defeat, than how is it any different than Karl Rove manufacturing smear tactics for the right? This is why I've grown tired of politics in general.
