I'll never forget the time I went to a deaf gathering at a bar with a group of deaf friends and one of them brought a friend who is hearing (in deaf culture, people who aren't deaf and can hear are dubbed as "hearing" people). He just started learning sign language at the time, so it was an opportunity for him to blend in with the culture. He ended up getting into a fistfight after he accidently signed "bitch" and "bastard" while chatting with a deaf girl about her parents when he meant to say "mother" and "father". The signs are almost similiar and he messed up on that one. So basically the deaf girl thought he was calling her parents a "bitch" and a "bastard" and she overreacted, I think she was either drunk or an angry individual. She called for her boyfriend to beat him up for her. All hell broke loose. Poor guy.
