Being an asshole who's right seems to be a popular mantra among kids these days.

At any rate, being a reclusive young white male, your biggest danger is far and away yourself. Just think about how big the world is, even in terms of a small town, when you see a murder in the paper every few weeks or even days. People also win the lottery on a very regular basis, but it doesn't fall into the profitability that Schadenfreude and abject terror have in the media. Seriously, the Indianapolis Fox nightly news program ran a segment called "Terrorists: in YOUR Neighborhood?" You can be afraid all you want, but it's not going to make you safer and it's not even going to be any more realistic than when you weren't. The fact that you're on the internet suggests that you're miles above the majority of the kids in the world, a third of whom are starving. Life in America has its problems, but comfort and safety aren't among them.
