So does this get any better after you get out of the cuh-raaaazy carnival of surgeries? The intro was really cool, and pretty much everything since then has been "Doom 3, plus light, minus scares and playability". Headshots seem to be random whether they'll actually register more damage or not, aiming is a little stupid, maneuverability is a joke, cover is mostly useless and you're unable to use it effectively anyway, and enemies blast the shit out of you with ridiculous accuracy nanoseconds after you round a bend before you can even sight them (see: Gears of War). Not that there's any penalty for this, as you just respawn down the hallway and the guy that killed you will be standing there with his back turned.

But christ, this is just like every other FPS I've ever played. Condemned comes to mind when I play this, only that had way better melee combat.

I also did not appreciate the intense focus on SUPER GROSSOUTS, like having to inject yourself with shit every fifteen seconds.

DISAPPOINTMENT FOR ME :< Penny Arcade's been hyping it, so I had high hopes ;<

Looks real pretty on my 8800 GTS, though, even if the physics act like butt.

It's pretty much more of the same. Cover remains barely useful, headshots only seem to work with single-shot weapons, armed splicers are super-accurate, and no real scares to think of, apart from creepy dentist guy in the medical pavilion.

I really liked it for a while, but having beaten it once, I find that my interest waning fast. Combat is definitely the main focus, but it's been dumbed down so severely, thanks in large part to infinite resurrections, that going through all of it again seems like more of a chore. It really doesn't help that it's so similar to SS2, as you can't help but be reminded of how elements in Bioshock seemed to be better executed in SS2.
