it's because socialism really sucks!
We are not propping up a nationalized medical system.
We have a huge economy w/ less regulation. Free market rocks.
Plus, you guys do not have a large diversity of natural resources; there are many white collar economic refugees in Asia teaching English (tens of thousands of Canadians) because there are no
real jobs in Canada.
