"Smurf the Movie"
Plot Device - the mushrooms they live in unleash certain characteristics in each smurf when eaten. kinda of like a Smurf puberty. one smurf (brainy), accidentally trips and eats wall. He then becomes like the Leader in Hulk Comic fame. it is later learned that Smurfette only became female after she ate wall as a toddler smurf of 37 years.
Brainy figures this out, also figuring that wall eating is what empowered Papa and Grampy Smurf before him. So in a mad Nazi lust for power, Brainy force feeds smurfs mushroom wall. Mutations arise with horrific and slapstick results. Factions arise and rebel or align with Brainy. Totoal chaos and civil war ensues.
After two hours, you realize, this isn't a movie... this the next hollywood trilogy. Because at the very end, Gargamel and Azrael show up and start watching the chaos, not with glee but with blank but knowing faces.
