This thread comes at an interesting time. My parents are actually getting a divorce, and believe it or not, their 28th Anniversary is coming up this weekend. They both want their split to be amicable, and the lawyers are making everything hard for them. They both know what they want, they just want to settle it and get on with their lives.

When I was first told about this, it was like having the rug pulled out from under me. I think after a number of years, you expect them to grow old together. They've had problems for years, but I never expected either one of them to try and get out of it.
