Duck and chop right next to his feet. There's a little bit of his foot that can touch you without you getting hurt, so you can get an extra hit in before he steps forward.. If you've got enough health, you shouldn't have to move much, if at all. Watch out for when he moves his hand near his head, though, that's when he'll try to grab you.
