You mentioned immersion being broken, but wouldn't it be a bigger immersion-breaker if you just popped up outside the memorial after the credits?
At any rate, I heard a rumor that they plan to fix the crap with Fawkes at the end, as well as not being able to continue playing after the end. Last I heard, they were talking about doing that for the Broken Steel expansion.
