Ugh. I know beat 'em ups tend to be repetitive, but that got seriously mind-numbing after awhile. If it wasn't for the LOLQUIRKY plot, I wouldn't have finished it.
I'm not saying you're not allowed to like it (you're certainly entitled to your own opinion), but whenever someone gives it such high praise, I feel obligated to knock it down a peg. There's just too many issues bogging it down.
I sincerely hope the sequel can fix the some of problems the first game had. It had so much potential
