The matchmaking was flawed in the demo phase, and from what I've heard, nothing has changed since.
In short, they aren't going to release some patch that cleans up the gameplay and fixes the game's network woes.

Your right about the matchmaking in ranked mode. It's terrible. I catch myself sitting in front of my monitor for 10-15 minutes waiting for the computer to match me up and then when it finally happens its a room with only 3 people inside.
