I wish I had a cool story about how I came up with my username, like my dad being a police captain and the last three numbers on his badge were 516. But no, the sad truth is I just suck at this sort of thing. My account names on youtube and other forums are just as bad.
As for my avatar- It's Frank Zappa and Jack Kirby, together at last. I like to imagine that they were good friends.
