also if you like recent 2d animation, have you seen michel ocelot's films (kirikou, princes and princesses, azur and asmar (ok that one is cgi but it's beeeaaaaautiful (except for the character models))? they're great and pretty and i just got a french dvd of some of his early stuff and short films.
anyway he has a new series currently airing on french television, i might buy the french dvd as it's released on the 30th of this month, but i highly doubt it'll have secret english subtitles!
