I used to be good at hacking into old bulletin board systems (bbs). Ah yes, back in the days of 2400 modems. How I miss those simple times.
I think the movie "War Games" had too much of an effect on my life back then. I had a war dialer and had it dial pretty much every number in my area code. I also have a tone generator from radio shack, and the crystal in it was replaced so you could make free phone calls. And of course, copies of 2600 and Mondo 2000 magazines were always laying around my computer.
