Talkin' Shmups: Fantasy Zone

ooh, ooh! have you ever played kolibri? it's a 32x game (one of, what, three worthwhile 32x games?) in which you play a hummingbird and you go around killing other small animals.

it's pretty fun. it's beautiful!

it's not a fantasy zone/gradius/king's knight type deal, though, with auto-scroll. it's more of a free-roaming thing. bangai-o style, i guess, but... not that crazy.

if you like bird themed shooters you might enjoy agony on the amiga also.

if there was a single game of the shooting genre that ceaselessly haunts me it would be the dreamcast port of mars matrix. i really want to be able to play it competently someday but it may be an impossible dream.
