Oh yeah. Everyone will feel normal if a marines on board... hell, we don't even know if Bush knew what day it was going to be. Again, if it was something big like a nuke, you don't want it to be blown out of psuedo-paranoia of the terrorists (or cause mass hysteria, leaving a nice opening for the terrorists to reek havoc, not the mention the riots themselves...). Speaking of a nuke:

I think if Osama had been planning something else he would've done it while America was damaged and weak in the aftermath, and if he had a nuke in the americas he would've exploded something already.

Osama had, or at least should have had, a back-up plan. We don't want to take risks. As for the nuke: yeah, of course, but it's like I said - we don't know exactly how much Bush knew. He didn't want to think he was onto something by putting marines on aircrafts, only to find out that was merely a ploy to take attention away from the real threat. Or, for that matter, finding out that the hi-jacking was of an oil truck that exploded in the pentagon.

Unless he's waiting for something... like maybe after we get iraq all under control he'll explode it. That'd be great. Or maybe he'll splode something else. But why wait, you lose the crippling effect, I doubt Osama is an idiot.

That too. Osama could have his reasons if he wanted that - maybe getting rid of Saddam would simultaneously give him access to all those WMDs through the black market and unjustify the war with Iraq(since the weapons wouldn't be found). Then he would blow something up, like the new Iraqi government, or perhaps DC - and of course mention how it is all the fault of the USA's war with Iraq. Talk about a sense of irony.

Of course, that would mean Saddam did not have the bombs to start with, and somehow tricked the USA into going into war with Saddam. Eh, I'm talking pretty far-fetched now anyways, and I already covered my view on the nuke matter.

I think maybe he thought hitting the World Trade Center would've fucked everything up for a long time, but it didn't, so now he's planning on crashing an airplane into the whitehouse or something. Or there's some deeper conspiracy behind it.

Good for you. I think it was more of a symbollic thing that most americans just don't get.

From what I understand there was an FBI report.. reported about suspected terrorists taking Plane lessons and what-not, and it was ignored.

Hmm... I seem to recall it being a large number of middle-eastern people taking flight lessons, but I don't remember any being known terrorists. The FBI should have kept their eye on this: but that has little to do with Bush himself. Once again, I will mention the fact that for all that was known, this could have been a decoy - and without any hard evidence, little could be done to these people. A little law fudging will get plenty of reporters on the "brutality" of the Bush administration, with all kinds of comparisions to the WW2 japanese camps. Then Osama kicks in his back-up plan or simply watches the political turmoil of America. You never know: he might have had some white followers in case something went wrong.
