The historical definition of a conservative has been just as subjective and situational.
I don't think they're calling Stalin a "Right-Winger" under the context of a Republican in 2003. The point is that Stalin's perpetual revolution was a contradiction, and in fact a
conservative force, opposed to change, and in favor of the preservation of Soviet institutions.
